Sociological Science Conference
The 2nd annual Sociological Science conference, will be held on the Cornell campus
June 2 and 3, 2025.
The goal of the conference, like the journal, is to support and disseminate research that
advances “a general understanding of social processes.”
The conference will be held on Cornell’s Arts and Sciences campus, with lodging available both at the Statler, which is Cornell’s campus hotel, and at The Hotel Ithaca, which is within walking distance of the Ithaca commons. The conference is expected to run from approximately 8am on June 2 to 2:00pm on June 3, 2025.
Transport to Ithaca
Ithaca’s airport (ITH) is served by United and Delta. The airport is 12 minutes from campus by ride-share and about 30 minutes by TCAT bus Rt 32.
Elmire (ELM; 35 minutes away) and Syracuse (SYR; 75 minutes away) have more flights and are often less expensive than ITH. However, public transportation to and from these airports is infrequent and time-consuming, so you may want to rent a car, take an airport shuttle, or use a ride share app. Later in spring we will send more information and set up a document to help you find car-pool partners.
Finally, Cornell runs the Campus-to-Campus bus service from three locations in Manhattan to the Ithaca campus. It’s a quiet coach with reasonably comfortable seats and free wi-fi.
The trip is about 4.25 hours.
Unfortunately, we don’t have funds to subsidize participants’ travel to the conference.
Timing your visit
The first day of the conference, Monday June 2, will be a full day, so we suggest that you arrive no later than Sunday evening. We will end the conference on June 3 early enough in the afternoon that participants can make the last flights out of ITH or the evening campus-to-campus bus to NYC.
If you’d like to spend a few extra days in Ithaca, it’s lovely – gorgeous, even – in early summer. Be advised that May 30-June 1 is the annual Ithaca Festival, most of which is held downtown. If you have a hankering to see a small-town parade, arrive by late afternoon on Friday, May 30.
