Jonas Pontusson

JONAS PONTUSSON is Professor of Government, Director of the Cornell Summer Program in International Business, and Advisor to the International Political Economy Program at the Einaudi Center. He received his Ph. D. and M.A. in Political Science (1986, 1979) from the University of California - Berkeley and his B.A. from Amherst College (1978). Dr. Pontusson has been a Fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences and a Visiting Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford University.

Research Interests
Dr. Pontusson's interests lie in the general area of comparative political economy of advanced capitalist societies. He is currently completing a book manuscript on distributive politics and the interface between labor-market institutions and welfare-state regimes (under contract with the Century Foundation). Recent publications include a co-edited volume entitled Unions, Employers, and Central Banks: Macroeconomic Coordination and Institutional Change in Social Market Economies (with T. Iversen and D. Soskice; Cambridge, 2000) as well as articles on labor politics, wage inequality, and welfare-state retrenchment in the British Journal of Political Science, World Politics, and Comparative Political Studies.
