Elliot Weininger is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Sociology at SUNY-Brockport. He received his doctorate
from the CUNY Graduate Center where he worked on the ideas
of the late Pierre Bourdieu. A paper on the concept of class
in Bourdieu's work is forthcoming in an Cambridge University
Press volume on social class edited by Erik Olin Wright. In
addition, with Annette Lareau, he has published papers on
social class and family life, including a recent paper in
Theory and Society on the use of the concept of cultural
capital in educational research.
